dude I’ve found myself on your site several time now (clicking through from Upstart Blogger) and I think its a fantastic idea / niche. However I also followed your “rising star” link to Mark Mason here and am sort of surprised.

I dont follow the internet / blog world very closely but is this guys 80’s style design and marketing bumpf really bringing in the bucks and impressing people? When I first saw the header on his niche-adsense page I thought it was a piss take. Am I missing something or just overestimating the wit of average Joe blogger perhaps…?

  2. contestblogger Says:

    Hey, thanks for the comments.

Listing the prizes was a requirement for entry in this contest (if you wrote a blog post), that is why the site is included. The description was also supplied by the contest starter and is not my personal opinion.

Yes, it looks like your typical ebook marketing site. There are tons of these. Usually they make money from an older audience that isn’t very internet savy but wants to make money online and are promoted through email marketing.

Amazingly, there are a ton of sites that follow the same design principles (or lack thereof) as this site. I don’t get why this is as whenever I see such a site, I perceive it as spammy. However, there must be an audience or sites like this wouldn’t continue to exist.

I confess that as I hit ‘submit comment’ I realised that the text was probably lifted directly from the competitions website and not representing your viewpoint. sorry.

I left a similar comment to your point about spammy sites on Upstart Blogger… the fact that we assume that this type of marketing etc must work I guess means that all the pharm spam that fills inboxes must be achieving its ends somehow as well.
    Beggars belief. :o\
